I was in a stable. More explicitly: I was in the slaughtering section of a stable: there were numerous kinds of animals going to be slaughtered there. Above all there were horses, cows, and other kinds of animals. Whenever they pulled an animal to the slaughtering section it cried – it shouted desperately. And not only the animal which was pulled to the site of slaughter, but also the other animals that were remaining in the stable – as they knew: they had never seen the sun, never breathed fresh air – but at the moment they would see the sun and at the moment they would be going to 'breathe', they would soon be dead. The remaining animals were used to the fact that not anyone of them ever returned from the sunny outside.
A rather sturdy horse was pulled to the slaughtering section. I saw people opening ist vein, and the blood was running out like a flood. I did not want to look there but I saw it – had to see it nevertheless. After having its vein on the neck opened the horse fell down for a short time. But when no more blood was running it was still able to stand up and to walk. Rather passively the horse was guided to a nearby section by the slaughterers.
I was remaining there with two statues. I remember that one statue was that of a woman. The other statue had a sort of guiding position, but I no longer know its identity. The ‚guide’ started to play with a banana: we had to throw the banana from each other to the next in a circle. There were still chained horses standing all around us. The horses saw the banana which drove them completely crazy as they wanted to eat it. They couldn’t reach it and in their chained position – one beneath the other – they started to fight and to bite each other. Up to a point where their teeth hung within each other and could hardly be separated. It was an abhorring scene of greed and despair.
